Got a case of the Mailbox Blues?

February 2008 Volume II
Belmeade Signs newsletter.

Ah, winter in New England. The muse for many an artist— what’s not to love? Snow covered landscapes invoke a sense of peace and well-being, at least in many paintings. But for those of us who live it each year, we know it’s not all sleigh rides and hot chocolate.

How often have you trekked through the snow to get your mail, only to find letters, catalogs and magazines snow-encrusted or, depending on the temperature, sopping wet? Or, worse yet, a mailbox and its post completely slain by the snow propelled by the passing plows? It’s a sad, sad sight indeed.

Without the plows most of us would find ourselves cooped up for days on end. We can’t blame the plow drivers for taking out our mailboxes, they’re just doing their job. However, the mailbox issue is frustrating nonetheless. What can you do? Don’t bother going to the township, they’ll tell you that they can not do anything about it. But YOU can!
